These kinds of things usually are pretty damned funny when you are doing them. In fact, especially if you are the one doing them! In days of yore, the video would have been recorded and shelved and friends would have looked back in later years and laughed about how idiotic they were at that age.
But this is the age of instant digital media! The Fresh Beets miscalculated wildly and are now facing a $1 million lawsuit.
I understand that they want to protect their brand and their image, but come on. $1 million dollars? Is that really going to show those punks who’s boss? What is the point of bankrupting these idiots?
All it will do is make the next group of fools who do something like this try to do it more legit - like by purchasing their veggies before filming. That way they will be able to argue it is their own property with which they are, ahem, performing.
Instead of suing them, A&P should be thanking them for the free international advertising.

I’m Outraged at the Lack Of Outrage!
Earlier this week the democratic house capitulated to King George by allowing the FISA law to be changed in such a way that he can now wire-tap calls and monitor emails from any US citizen to outside of the US, this surveillance needs no suspicion, no pre-approval, and no repercussions if it “accidentally” records discourse within our country. Since Consiglieri Gonzales is in charge of monitoring this program it’s unlikely that the oversight will be anymore than a rubber stamp.
I’m used to the Democrats giving in to crap to get other stuff done (and they’ve gotten a lot done, of which I’m proud) but where is the ideologically driven right on this issue? Why aren’t the right-wing talkers OUTRAGED? The government has officially compromised our constitutional right to privacy. Before now I would have thought that keeping the Government out of our underwear drawers would be at least as important to conservatives as not allowing gays to marry. I was wrong. Do you think they’d be cool with Clinton monitoring them?

Road infrastructure in Minnesota is paid for by the gas tax. Minnesota’s constitution requires that gas tax be spent solely on ROADS not trains, not busses. ROADS! The gas tax in Minnesota has not been increased in 20 YEARS. This is because republicans have spent the last 20 years running on the primary issue of TAX CUTS.
Tim Pawlenty has been vetoing attempts at increase spending on transportation since 2003. The republican party gets support by claiming that raising taxes on gas would raise the price of gas. Consider that Wisconsin pays more than 10 cents more tax per gallon than Minnesota and their gas prices are exactly the same (while big oil makes record profits).
When you hear a republican say “Government is the problem.” Remember that someone needs to maintain food standards, someone needs to educate our children, someone needs to make sure OUR BRIDGES DON’T FALL DOWN. If someone running for office, for a place in government says “GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM” how can we expect them to govern well? Obviously we can’t.
Cubicle Ninja Stealth Secrets
It’s a dog-eat-dog world. It’s a jungle out there. It’s now what you know, it’s who you know. It’s not who you know, it’s who you blow. All of these clichés are valid if you work in a cubicle farm. If your cubicle farm exists in a giant corporation with lots of subsidiaries, then these clichés ring truer than any sane person would ever want. If your giant corporation rewards profit generation over actual ethical and valid work performed, well, that is another post entirely.
This post is about cubicle ninjas.
I am a cubicle ninja. I didn’t used to be a cubicle ninja. Previously to honing my powers of observation and my stealth techniques, I was merely a white collar professional who rolled with the punches. One day, there was a punch I realized I could not roll with.
A person whose attention to detail includes how people arranged things on their desks relocated to our building. My desk is and has been organized and clutter-free, but other co-workers have gained the ire of this member of the management team due to their messy desks. Other negative comments and actions have been directed around to my peers from this member of the management team, and I have tried my best to avoid this individual at all costs. There was one problem:
My avenue of escape from the Cubicle Farm went right past this leader’s cubicle doorway – my cubicle hallway actually ended right at his doorway. I had a single angle of sightline blockage I could use to my advantage, but it would take all my skills of stealth to make sure I passed by soundlessly and invisibly.

Dear Alberto, We Don’t Trust You.
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales gave testimony in front of congress today and was presented with a recent poll stating that a majority of American’s (53%) lack confidence in him and believe he should resign. He stated that he wasn’t aware of the poll and that he didn’t believe it.
As an American I certainly don’t believe he’s capable of prosecuting anything in a non-partisan way. I’m also concerned that he’s eroding our civil liberties and guilty of getting in front of the Senate and now Congress and lying through his teeth.
I think we should all contact the attorney general and let him know that we don’t have confidence in him, that he should step down and turn himself into the authorities for abusing his office for partisan purposes. Here’s his contact info:

“Ismail Ax” Let the hating begin
It was just released on the washington post site that the “gunman” Cho Seung-Hui at V-tech had written “Ismail Ax” on the inside of his arm. This is some sort of reference to Ibrahim who used it in a violent manner to allow Islam to flourish.
This development will give this story a fairly long tail and really help the fear-mongering of the admin. In addition I’m worried that we’ll see further justification for some of the more odious aspects of the patriot act… It’s going to get ugly. Buckle up.
