It’s funny, but about two months too late. Vote’s over. We lost.

I would like to clarify my last comment. I’m upset because I live in CA, and I had to watch this injustice go down up close. The yes-on-8 people used their ad money (which they had a lot more of) very effectively. I’ve heard that a lot of people who voted yes on 8 now feel that they were misled. I don’t think our side made the right arguments. I only saw one commercial ad that spent any amount of time discussing how Prop 8 takes away constitutional rights. (The bastards actually changed the state constitution – grrrr!) Our ads should have emphasized that more, and refuted the lies of the other side point by point. But thanks to efforts like this video, and the awesome statement by Keith Olbermann, I don’t think that a vote today would go the same way. It’s in the courts (again) now, and I guess we’ll see what happens.

Yeah, I can completely understand why you’d just have a “we’re fucked” type attitude at this point, but I do think that remaining positive and continuing to pay attention to this issue is really important.
I know it a long way out at this point, but I’d love to see more states put this on the ballot in 2010 or 2012. The only way that will happen is if we all keep our ears and eyes open for opportunities to help.

I, for one, cannot wait to gay-marry.
