Christmas on Mars, Tomorrow
We have only been waiting like 8 years for this, but tomorrow “Christmas on Mars” is finally coming out (on DVD/CD). This marks the end of some extreme waiting that I’ve been doing lately. Later on in the week, on Thursday, we will get to read the NTSB’s cover up about the 35W bridge collapse. What we wont read is about how the construction crew caused the bridge to fall down, but if you were driving over it that month it would be pretty clear that that was the problem… Here’s to waiting!

Have the flaming lips been building this for 8 years?
Also: I have to disagree with the construction crew being “the problem”. It may have been apparent that the weight of the construction equipment was a contributing factor but one has to consider the events that led up to such a huge oversight as to allow a bridge to be put in that position. I think we can assume that there was a lack of solid safety analysis that occurred… Troll: Sooooo what do you think would be the best way to prevent it from occurring? Stronger unions that have more influence over the safety of their members and projects or a greater social investment in infrastructure that could stay ahead of problems like this? Or both?

JZ and I just pre-ordered our Christmas on Mars Mega Delux Edition. The first 1000 are autographed, they all include popcorn, and there’s a chance you find golden tickets to the Lips 2008 New Year’s show.

I am feeling extremely happy today, so I will keep this brief!
Oscar: Tolls, not Trolls… (this is brilliant!)
JZ: Thanks for the 411 on the Mega Deluxe Edition

Ha! That is brilliant. — However Tolls are not an equitable way to pay for infrastructure–the poor end up paying more as they are less mobile and tend to have longer commutes. Those who generate more income also tend to benefit more from infrastructure as they rely on it to bring employees to work for them or bring customers to them.
