In my humble opinion.  It is possible that the president and Tyrol are also some of the final five, but I’m less than convinced of that.  Tigh, Anders and Tory are all humans that have been messed with/programmed by the cylons, Tigh was obviously captured and screwed with, Anders was discovered on New Caprica by Leoban (the dude holding starbuck hostage) and he was is tough shape, sick and in bed–that’s were he got programmed/messed with.  Tory, well we don’t know much about her so she could have been captured or whatever.

OK, I just read this interview with the writer and he confirms that the four: Tigh, Tyrol, Anders and Tory are cylons.

I don’t like it though and I’m still sticking with my original theory (I’m hoping he’s messing with our heads in the interview).

I need to download this series to contribute to the discussion.

Unfortunately…I gave up cable TV three years ago.

One of the easiest shows to get through bit-torrent.

Nice find with the interview, Oscar. Starbuck’s gotta be the last one, right? Her ship asploded! But if that destroyed her body, where did she resurrect?

also a small chance she didn’t die and instead went through a worm-hole to earth–going into that spiral is her destiny after all–destinies rarely result in death for no reason. Lee could certainly could have been hallucinating–of tricked (it’s not as if hallucinations are rare on BSG).

Also possible that she did die and she to lee as six is to baltar (isn’t in interesting that we didn’t really see the six with baltar once baltar started to appear with the six–the same entity?).

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Brenna has an interesting theory that the final five are a different sort of cylons that were made by humans from earth, and the other cylons evolved away from them–and that the humans from galactica’s “area” (for lack of a better word) were created/evolved from the final five.

I don’t think I’m accurately representing her theory as I didn’t fully understand it. But I liked it. I’ll see if I can get her to describe it here.

Oooh, i like the rezzing on Earth idea. And I’m intrigued by Brenna’s theory. Would that mean that all the founders of the colonies are part cylon? Maybe that’s the only way to make such a long space trek? On a related note, are the people of earth still 100% “human”?

I like the long space trek half-clyon justification.

And I suspect will will find that the people of earth are 100% human… and really into Dylan (who isn’t?).

Here’s a comment from the Digg thread dude who wrote it is Mythicflux and no other info about him is available. Comment follows:

My personal theory is that they are going to pull a ship of lights approach.

Establish the idea that the current Cylon models are all based off the original 12 Lords of Kobol who were in fact human beings created by an advanced race of alien ‘gods’ thousands of years ago. Humanity around that time began to reject their gods and choose to fight back against the Lords of Kobal. The ‘gods’ got upset with humanity and after a long war, both humanity and the ‘gods’ came to an agreement where humanity would leave Kobol and never return.

Fast forward a few thousand years. Humanity having forgotten history in favor of a mythos involving their ancient ‘gods,’ begins developing AI technology which results in the creation of a new race of machines they call Cylons. The Cylons and humanity have a war and this time humanity sends away their machines telling them to never return.

Now where my theory kicks in is that the old ‘gods’ didn’t just cease to be, their technology kept expanding/evolving and they became something similar to the Ship of Lights from the original series (which was a very advanced race that remained hidden yet helped lower societies in secret). I think that the SoL society split, one side refusing to get involved in human affairs directly(only aiding them with their ‘Lords’), the second side choosing to favor the advancement of the Cylons by wiping out humanity as revenge for the first war.

If that’s the case then we could be having a Count Iblis character emerge as a fallen member of SoL who gave the Cylons the technology to manufacture human forms and download thought into new bodies. Because he was relaying existing technology he gave them the forms for 7 of the original 12 models that they had created. Furthermore, This being passes himself off as only ‘God’ and convinces the Cylons that the Colonials are worshiping false ‘Gods.’ Perhaps this Iblis character has already been seen twice? ( in-head Six and Baltar). If this is the case then we bring back in the SoL race that has become aware of Iblis’ attempts to destroy humanity and is now attempting to aid the last human fleet in finding the last human colony.

This is why the final 5 models are not actually Cylons. The Cylons annexed the models so everyone assumes that the 12 are all Cylons (especially since everyone keeps referring to them as Cylons). If they go with the SoL approach then they explain a good chunk of how the Cylon’s evolved, why there is a divide between the Cylon ‘God’ and the Colonial ‘Gods.’ How Starbuck came back from the dead (the SoL downloaded her mind into a new body or transported her entire body). Why the final 5 have real history with the fleet when the 7 don’t even know what the 5 look like. Why 4 of the 5 are in important positions to aid humanity.

Okay, here’s my theory: The Five were created by humans on Earth. The Five then created humans in a different galaxy–cloning, etc. Then those humans evolved and created Cylons of their own. I’m still working on this theory, so I may have more later.

Cool, thanks. Why are the five trying to get back to earth? (if starbuck is one of them it’s safe to assume they are) And why would they let the mass killing of all the humans they created?

OK I realize I am coming so late to this discussion, but I just watched the last two episodes of season three. (thank you Erik and Brenna for sending me the DVDs) That whole ship of lights discussion got me thinking about Count Iblis and the fact that the new series has always sort of mirrored the old series with subtle variations. (Admiral Cain and the Pegasus for example) In the old series Starbuck was killed and was brought back to life by the Ship of Lights. He was not however a Cylon. Maybe Kara Thrace is not a Cylon. Maybe she was killed and brought back to life by an as yet unseen Ship of Lights character. Also, maybe we are about to see a Count Iblis character. Wow that whole episode just kinda blew my mind
