Relieved of Duty for Loving America
The Air Farce is all worked up over one of their enlisted soldier’s recent moonlighting job with Playboy. Staff Sergeant Michelle Manhart, 30, has been relieved of duties while the military “investigates”.
The Air Farce had this to say,
This staff sergeant’s alleged action does not meet the high standards we expect of our airmen, nor does it comply with the Air Force’s core values of integrity, service before self, and excellence in all we do…
Picture this: You’re a thirty-year-old woman, married with two kids, you have been in the same job for about twelve years, you will never make the money that management makes, and you still have a rockin’ bod. Playboy wants to offer you a wad of money for you to pose naked.
Before you answer, check out the military payscale.

SSgt Manhart is bringing home around $33K per year.
The Air Farce is wrong here. It would have been an injustice for SSgt. Manhart to NOT pose nude!
SSgt. Manhart’s selfless decision to help recruit more soldiers into the enlisted ranks, both male and female, will only help the United States win George Bush’s Global War on Terror. The selfless sacrifices of ordinary Americans, like SSgt. Manhart, that make this country great. SSgt. Manhart’s decision to glamorize a career as a military enlistee is the most selfless act an enlisted soldier could perform and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, service before self, and excellence. If more people loved America so much that they had the dedication and selfless devotion to duty as displayed by SSgt. Manhart, then there would be no more wars. Maybe it’s time we all take our clothes off in support of SSgt. Manhart.
SSgt. Manhart, we salute you!

Having just separated from the military last week I find SSgt Manhart actions disgusting. I share the same sentiments about her posing in Playboy in UNIFORM. many fine men and women have fought and died wearing the uniform and to have her put it on as it was a Halloween costume is utterly disgusting and a slap in the face to every one who has put on the uniform.
Now for the record, I don’t knock her desire to pose in playboy, but I am disgusted by her decision to do it in uniform. Yes if you have those desires to do so then so be it do so. If that conflicts with the rules and regulations of the military then you have two choices A) don’t do it B) leave the service and pursue it..when you sign up for the military you give up certain rights ..they let you know that from day one with the myriads of regulations and rules that a military members sees
For those of you who don’t know.. there are rules that clearly state that service members cannot and are not allowed to wear their uniforms for personal and MONETARY benefits. and the fact that she is a military training instructor who job is to enforce the same regulations she broke is a wrong in all kind of ways..
To anyone who says that if they were her subordinates would look at her the same if she posed is a straight liar….EVERY MAN that sees her after they see the article will see her and think about only one thing ..PLAYBOY….the men that she teaches are young 17/18 year old who generally at that point have one thing in mind when they meet women T^TS and A@@ and when they meet a women who they have seen naked then it become even harder for them to take her seriously…you are not glamorizing your career by showing your breast.. you glamorize it by s
I don’t buy the whole ” I didn’t know it was wrong ” line.. it would be a difference if there were other females doing the same thing in uniform in the public eye and the Air Force endorsed it, but you have to wonder that appearing in a nationally public magazine in uniform and in the NUDE is somewhat worth talking to a superior about…
now I will support any woman’s decision to get naked and appear in playboy…in fact I encourage it..it’s America dangit and that what I spent 8 years in the service to support. But the rules clearly state that doing anything in uniform for personal monetary gain is strictly prohibited and the fact that she had an inkling to appear in uniform and nude does disservice to all service members every where.
the whole pay line is a bunch of bullsh^t… Everyone knows that you don’t join the military for to get rich let alone stay in for 13 years (which I believe is the time she served in the Air Force) to amass millions..
If money was that hard then do the right thing and LEAVE to fulfill your wildest dream..when you sign up for the military you give up certain rights..and if you don’t like the rights that you lose then leave..Playboy was clearly looking out for them
When you join the military it isn’t about you it’s about you and your fellow airmen (in this case) and you country…posing nude in playboy in uniform and on active duty puts you above your fellow service members and your country..that’s okay if you are a civilian but when you train young troops to possibly do activities that could result in death your end goal needs to be for something other than yourself..if you don’t want to won up to those responsibility then do the right thing and leave to make yourself happy

I served in the military and I don’t consider it a slap in the face.
But I served in the Infantry so I never served with women in my chain-of-command.
There are far more things to be concerned about with today’s military than one person who posed in Playboy magazine.

You say joining the military isn’t about “you” but rather the whole. Why did the Army use the slogan “An Army of One” for several years?
Anyway, seems to me there are bigger things the Army should be worrying about right now. And clearly you have a problem with women in the military in general.

I understand where you’re coming from when you say that once every man sees the article their only going to think of one thing. When I was a kid and I realized that people were naked under their clothes I could no longer make eye contact with or respect anybody. To this day I stay in my house under thirty blankets and try to pretend that the body doesn’t exist.
How dare she have breasts!

Being in the Air Force myself, I agree with the statement about her posing in uniform. One another note, if I had that body, I would have considered the same thing. I might have waiting until I was out of the military, but that is my opinion. I know the military payscale all to well, and being a single mother, the extra cash (offered by Playboy) would be too tempting NOT to accept.

I hear ya about the “waiting until I was out” statement Beverly. And I also doubt if I could have passed on that kind of cash either.
The other thing nobody considers is that if she had merely been a playboy model posing in combat fatigues and dog-tags, this wouldn’t even have made the news.
The only reason it DID make the news is because she was punished by her chain-of-command.
Go Air Force!
I was an Army guy, so I hope you didn’t mind my poking a little fun at the AF.
I admire all who have served and are serving.
