I vow to never play animal crossing again

Posted on Thursday, February 23, 2006 in Contextual Theatre, Video Games, Wii

animal crossing I tried to pick it up again tonight, and I couldn’t. The reason I’ve played it so much is because I’ve always expected to find some new cool stuff or have something exciting happen. But it never does, and I’ve come to terms with myself and accepted that it never will. Therefore I will not play it again… even the online element was completely not fun. I love Nintendo but this game is well… lame.

Also: I’ve removed it from the “playing” link section if any other eightandfivers are still playing it feel free to put it back up, but I need to stop.

  1. I stopped playing a week ago. I was trying to grow money trees, and I spent a ridiculous amount of time gathering ~90,000 bells so I could plant 3 trees. When it didn’t work, I experienced this wave of complete rage, a feeling of intense anguish that my digital attempts at farming currency had not paid off, and I powered off my DS and left the room. What can I say, it’s a strangely involving game. Moments later, I thought to myself, ‘Why on earth do I need a money tree? So I can pay off my mortgage on this stupid little house and buy presents for all of the selfish little monsters that inhabit my town?’ Haven’t played Animal Crossing since, but I do get a kick out of playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. I just pretend I’m Chris Lynch instead of the main character.

  2. I often pretend to be Chis Lynch when I get into tight social situations. Not only did I spend a rediculous amount of money trying to grow money trees, I spend a ridiculous amount of money setting my house up as feng-shi as possible, only to get less money out then I put in. What a hoot. But I did discover a fail proof way to make a lot of money, and toiled for probably 20 or 30 hours making back the money that I stole from Oscar. Change the date harvest 100 or so trees, change the date again… Havent I done enough, if I wanted to be an emegrant laboror I would have skiped the whole colledge thing and not got myself a DS… IT was that realization that work != fun that I have come to many times in my life so instead of playing I just put about 80 hours this week into my real job, with the side effect that I will be receiving a real check for real bells, that I don’t have to spend on furnature, or a morgage… Sadly I don’t think that sonic the hedge hog is really doing it for me either, oh well back to Civ, any one want to play?

  3. Ditto on that Lynch thing, but I find myself doing it in intimate situations. Eric, I’ll take the dept you owe me for dollars on the bell (just kidding I’m never playing again). I went back to advance wars… I’ll let you know when I find my Civ 4 discs.
