’90s alt/indie rock sales figures

Posted on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 in Pop-Culture

I found this and thought it would be interesting to share. Below are album sales figures from some of the more popular bands from the ’90s scene. I was amazed, some albums I thought would have higher numbers weren’t even close to my guesses, while others blew me away with how many they sold. I knew Nirvana’s Nevermind was popular, but holy crap! The Breeders seems way high, but that damn song was everywhere for a year.

  1. Have you ever noticed how artists of that era would come out with three or four albums but only certain of those albums would ever get airplay on MTV. You would think that if you were a big name like Nirvana, with a huge hit, they would atleast play your next albums video once? I have often wondered if someone at MTV just decided what would be popular, or if there was actually a method to the madness. Was nevermind that much better then nirvana’s other albums…

  2. I kind of think nevermind was that much better.
